Melissa Back McAlpine, J.D. founded Back to Yes Mediation, LLC in March 2012. Although Melissa is a licensed Attorney in the State of Texas, she is following her passion and practicing as a Mediator, Arbitrator, ADR Trainer at Manousso Mediation & Arbitration, and Adjunct Professor at the University of St. Thomas.
Melissa is a Texas Credentialed Distinguished Mediator, who has mediated hundreds of cases. Melissa was awarded a 5-Year Federal Contract to mediate for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Melissa is on the panel of mediators for various District Court and County Court judges in the greater Houston area. She is a bi-lingual mediator (Spanish), well-versed in intercultural and interpersonal communications, and happy to assist you with your or your client’s commercial or civil mediation needs.

She mediates for such organizations as the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and Houston area Dispute Resolution Centers (DRC). Melissa is the recipient of a 5-year Federal Contract position with the EEOC, Houston Regional District Office. Work-place mediation is one her specialties.
Mediate.comMelissa co-teaches Global Conflict Management, an upper level and graduate level course, to aspiring and eager students. This course is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of global conflict resolution, analysis, and management within the field of mediation and alternative dispute resolution. It will also provides students with the international “gold standard” certificate required to become a professional and credentialed mediator.
University of St. ThomasMelissa assists in training new mediators with Dr. Barbara Manousso at Manousso Mediation & ADR Services. These trainings have become one of the nation’s leading mediation training programs. A variety of classes are regularly offer: 40-Hour Basic Mediation, Advanced Family Mediation, Elder Mediation, Parent Coordination & Facilitation, and Arbitration trainings. Lawyers receive MCLE, with ethics credits.
Manousso MediationMelissa is honored to be the President-Elect of the Texas Association of Mediators (TAM). Melissa is also the Co-Convenor for the Texas Mediation Trainers Roundtable (TMTR), which oversees mediation training standards in Texas. She is the Past-President of the Association for Conflict Resolution – Houston Chapter (ACRHouston). Melissa is the youngest President for the entire Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR) International, local chapters, ever in the history of the organization.
Melissa is the lead legal investigator in Latin American and European investigations for Fortune 500 Firms. Practicing mediator, who uses this critical skill-set in working with global, diverse entities on major international investigations. Additionally, Melissa serves as the Lead in collaborations with Big 4 Accounting Firms and In-house Client Audit and Investigatory teams of Fortune Firms.
